Our strength
in Chicago.

SEI connects your line with established distribution relationships and commercial HVAC contractors and engineers in Chicago. Our Illinois team brings experience from distribution, manufacturer sales and the contractor side of the business.

How a line grows

Known at the counter.
Trusted by the crew.

Your sales in our territory depend on two relationships: distributors who can stock and support the product, and contractors who ask for it. We build both, in that order, and the orders go through distribution.

  1. Place the line with distributors who can support it.

We know which branches in each market have the inventory, the counter staff and the technical depth to carry a product well, and we work with their ownership and branch teams until the line is stocked and quoted. That is where the demand we create next has to land.

  2. Create demand with the contractors who choose it.

A contractor trusts a recommendation when the person making it understands the application, the code changes that affect it and where the product saves labor or material. We teach that in training sessions, at demonstrations and on job sites, and when the contractor asks for the product, the order goes to the distributor we placed it with.

    How we train

  3. Stay useful after the first order.

Field calls, counter days, training and inside sales keep the line moving after the launch. Contractors call us when they have a problem on a job, and a line whose questions get answered is the one they keep asking their distributor for.

Line results

Four lines.Four ways to build demand.

Results are reported by SEI; annual figures are sales of the line in our territory, and 2026 figures are year to date.

Duffey Lofts, Minneapolis. Multifamily application example.

SEI taught contractors accustomed to gas-fired equipment where heat pumps fit and how to apply them, with distribution ready to stock and support the line. In Minnesota, changing requirements and incentives created a clear education opportunity. That application knowledge reached crews and distributor counters as part of the wider six-state growth effort.

  • 98% growth in 2025
  • Over 80% growth in 2026, year to date
  • Relationship began in 2019. Figures cover the line across SEI’s six-state equipment territory.

Explain power protection.

SEI taught contractors what surge and over/undervoltage protection does for the electronic controls in modern HVAC equipment, heat pumps included, and when to specify it.

SEI showed contractors the value of carrying compatible universal furnace boards in truck stock. Compatibility is checked for the equipment involved, and having a suitable board on hand can help a contractor complete a repair without a second trip.
